Mahesh Shelat aspires to achieve greatness in the fitness industry. An engineer by profession, Mahesh discovered his passion for fitness and training while pursuing his degree and turned it into a full-time career. Today, he has found success as a personal trainer for affluent business people and celebrities in the fitness world. Mahesh has been dedicated to his role as a personal trainer for the past seven years; he simultaneously manages his YouTube channel.
Fitness training is not Mahesh’s only forte. He holds a black belt in karate and represented his state in hockey for three years.
Although Mahesh was studying engineering, he always harboured a deep passion for fitness, healthy eating, and bodybuilding. Without a plan, he embarked on a personal training and nutrition course to explore new avenues. To his delight, Mahesh thoroughly enjoyed completing the course and realised that he could turn his learnings into a full-time career, freeing himself from the monotonous corporate lifestyle. Since then, he diligently works out six to seven days a week, adhering to a strict workout regimen.
"As an engineer, transitioning to a personal trainer was a significant step. A substantial amount of money had been invested in my engineering education, but I didn't let that stop me. Today, I can confidently say that it was the best decision of my life, propelling me upward and onward,” he said.
However, Mahesh emphasises that he doesn't train his clients the same way he trains himself. Each client possesses different levels of mobility, goals, and timelines. Not all aspire to become bodybuilders. As a personal trainer, Mahesh must constantly consider the clients' capabilities, intensity preferences, and workout frequency. While pushing them to step out of their comfort zones and train hard, he acknowledges the need to establish boundaries and work within constraints.
One of Mahesh's greatest strengths lies in his unwavering determination and refusal to give up. During the COVID-19 lockdown, when the world was grappling with unemployment and people were struggling to meet their basic needs, Mahesh transformed his terrace into a gym and started training people there. While other trainers complained about the situation, Mahesh resolutely stuck to his routine.
Mahesh has been a part of Steadfast Nutrition for over three years. Witnessing the brand's growth firsthand, he saw it evolve from offering three whey protein products to 37 formulations within six years. His favourites are the protein supplements Incredible Whey (mango, strawberry, and coffee flavours), Incredible Isolate (chocolate and mango flavours), and Wheylo. He relies on SteadCreatine for muscle strength and to boost his energy levels and SteadLytes to replenish electrolytes during workouts. Mahesh also incorporates various wellness products into his routine, such as Fish Oil, Curcumin, 5-HTP, Vitamin D3, L-Arginine, Milk Thistle, and Multivitamins.
Mahesh Shelat firmly believes full-body workouts are the way to build well-developed muscles. He dedicates 90 minutes to his exercise routine, including deadlifts, rowing, squats, overhead press, and bench press. Following these resistance exercises, he engages in 45 minutes of steady-state cardio. Among all, his favourite is the shoulder bench press. He favours this routine because it engages all the major muscle groups in the body in a single session. The varied exercises make the entire workout session enjoyable and stimulating, resulting in increased calorie burn.
Beyond his unwavering commitment to maintaining physical fitness, Mahesh also nurtures a love for books. Overcoming a personal challenge, he decided to tackle his belief that he was unable to read books and often found himself purchasing books but not reading them. However, during the lockdown, he consciously devoted time to reading and embraced the opportunity to delve into various books. The endeavour broadened his knowledge and provided a fulfilling and enriching experience.
Mahesh draws inspiration from his father, whose relentless efforts to improve their lives have deeply impacted him. Witnessing his father's struggle has motivated Mahesh to strive for excellence and make a positive impact on the lives of his parents. His ultimate desire is to bring happiness and pride to his father by achieving success and realising his dreams.
