Steadfast Athlete Mohammad Akber Khan is an acclaimed Road Cyclist from the valley of Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir). Akber’s inspiration to take up cycling came from his elder brother, who’s a sports teacher by profession. Under his brother’s guidance, Akber kept on hitting the roads to hone his skills resulting in three consecutive gold medals at the college level. He engulfed his passion for cycling with acquiring a B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed to know the intricacies of the game, further enrolling for PhD Program with the topic – “Structure of a cyclist and the cycling in India.”
“You have to devote more than 6 hours daily to cycling, exercising and other allied activities to keep the body in sync with the demands of the sport”, says Akber. His dedication to the sport has paved an uncharted path for the budding cycling aspirants of Kashmir promising a brighter future for all.
